Welcome to Class 5's page!
Class 5
Welcome back everybody; I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday with your friends and families, and enjoyed all the lovely sunshine we had on offer! Me and Mrs Toase are both very excited about welcoming you all back for a brand new year of learning as year 6 pupils. Our history unit for this half term is World War 2 - conflict. We will look at two key events during the war in detail: The Battle of Britain and The evacuation of Dunkirk. Our geography unit for the second half of term will be a fieldwork unit – Saltwater Biomes, Ecosystems and Habitats. We will be going to a coastal environment to see how different creatures are adapted to live in this biome. In science, we will be studying animals including humans for the first half of term, and for the second half of term, we will be studying electricity. Below, the knowledge organisers summarises what we will be learning about.
We have 2 PE afternoons this term. These will be on Monday and Tuesday for us. As usual, children will come into school in their PE kits please.
Homework will be set on Fridays, and it will include spellings, some maths questions based on the week's learning and reading. We are expecting each child to read 8 times over a two week period, and these need to be recorded in their diaries. Homework is due on Wednesday, with the spelling and times tables test taking place on the Friday of that week.
We look forward to seeing all of you back in school for the new term!
