Welcome to Class 5's page!
Welcome back class 5!
I hope you have all had a lovely and relaxing Easter. We have made it to the summer term! This is a big term in many ways, but especially for all our yr6’s as this is their last term before moving on to secondary school. Although I’m sure you are all excited about moving on, ensure you take all the opportunities given to you so that you enjoy the rest of your time with us.
Our topic is rainforests. This topic has a particular focus on geography. We will consider where rainforests are located, and start to understand the language of tropics and equator. Check out the knowledge orgainiser below, where you will see an overview of where we will be going with the topic. We will look to study our topic in as many curriculum areas as possible. This will mean that you should expect to learn about the rainforests in maths right through to D&T and art.
Our first science unit of the year is all about electricity. Below, there is also a knowledge organiser, showing what we will be studying for this half term. We will link the scientific understanding to how it works in the world around us.
There is a small timetable change for this term. We will have RE and music with Mrs Toase on Wednesday afternoon now. Instead on Friday, we will have computing with myself and Spanish with Mr Ellis. This will mean we can give more time to more areas of the curriculum.
Homework will be given out every Friday, and it will include spellings and times tables. I will also expect you yo read as much as possible, and every reading you do, should be marked in your diary. Homework will be due in on Wednesdays, ready for a spelling and times tables test on Friday.
PE is on 1 afternoon this term, but for the whole afternoon. We will have PE all Thursday afternoon, so please wear PE kits in to school on that day.
Any questions, please ask!
We are looking forward to seeing you all back in school.
Mr Teuchmann and Mrs Toase
