Class 5

Welcome back everybody, and happy new year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas holiday and are ready for another term of learning. Our history unit for this half term is The Mayans. We will be mostly focusing on the clues from the past which give us an indication on how the Mayans lived, and how their innovations are so important even today. Our geography unit will be rainforests. We will look at where they are located and how we are trying to save them, whilst also considering the lives of the local people. Our science unit is properties and changes of material for this half term, and electricity for the second half of term. Below, the knowledge organiser summarises what we will be studying.

We have two PE days this term. These are Thursday and Friday for us. As usual, children will come into school in their PE kits please. 

Homework will be set on Fridays, and it will include spellings, some maths questions based on  the week's learning and reading. We are expecting each child to read 8 times over a two week period, and these need to be recorded in their diaries. Homework is due on Wednesday, with the spelling and times tables test taking place on the Friday of that week.
