Class 5

Welcome back class 5!

I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break, and have enjoyed spending time with your families.

Our topic focus is history for the first half of term. This half of term we will be studying the Vikings. We will consider what the UK was like around the time of King Edward the Confessor, and how the Viking invasions had a significant impact on our country today. In the second half of term, our focus is again on geography. We will be mostly focusing on Asia, and considering the silk road, which crossed huge parts of the continent.

Our first science unit of the term is evolution and inheritance.  Below, there is also a knowledge organiser showing what we will be studying for this half term. We will focus on prediction skills, considering how our futures might look and how we might evolve. Our final science unit of the year will be animals including humans. We will use the outdoor environment to gather data about different creatures and their habitats.

Homework will be given out every Friday, and it will include spellings and times tables.  I will also expect you to read as much as possible, and every reading you do, should be marked in your diary. Homework will be due in on Wednesdays, ready for a spelling and times tables test on Friday.

PE is on 1 afternoon this term, but for the whole afternoon. We will have PE all Thursday afternoon, so please wear PE kits in to school on that day.

Any questions, please ask!

We are looking forward to seeing you all back in school for the final term of the year!

Mr Teuchmann and Mrs Toase
