'There is no lift to success. You have to take the stairs.'
Welcome to Year 6 all of you!
We hope you all had a relaxing and fun-filled summer holidays with your family and friends. We know that it may seem like a daunting year ahead, but we believe that you are all going to make fantastic progress, with some resilience and hard-work from us all! We have lots of exciting lessons and experiences planned to help you learn all that you need to.
Our topic this term is 'The Mayans', a history-based topic which will enable us to learn about a fascinating culture from Central America. Through this topic we will look at the continents, oceans and geographical differences between ourselves and Central America, patterns in art, Mexican inspired recipes and music.
As Year 6s our job is to prepare you for secondary school as best we can, so we expect all homework to be brought in on time, all letters to be returned by the necessary date and for you to read daily. Homework will be sent out on a Friday and must be returned by the following Thursday.
P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Fridays; school P.E. kit needs to be in school at all times.
We are really looking forward to helping you make fantastic progress this year and we hope that you are all ready to work hard to achieve your potential!
Thank you to all the adults who came to learn and explore with the Year 6 children for our INSPIRE MORNING. We all know lots about the chilli pepper, how to cook with it and how the Mayans used it in their civilisation. Our fajita recipes are ready to be used...photos of our cooking session to follow!
