Class 5

'Nobody who ever gave their best regretted it'. (George Halas professional baseball player)

Welcome back year 5! I hope you all had a lovely Easter and you are refreshed and ready for your final term as a year 5 student!

Our topic this term is the Victorians. We will look deeply into the Victorian way of life. We will be thinking about how children were taught at schools, how some children were made to work at young ages, the expansion of the British Empire (and what it is) and what the general day was like for a typical Victorian child. Through this topic, we will be linking most other areas of the curriculum, so that we can look at the topic in many different ways.

All children are expected to practise all their times tables and spellings for a weekly test which will be on Friday.  Extra literacy or numeracy homework will also be given weekly.  All homework will be given on Fridays and will be due in on Wednesday.

P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays; P.E. kit needs to be in school at all times.  It is really important that all children bring in their P.E kits so that they can participate fully. Failure to do so could result in children not being able to take part in certain activities.

Thank you for all your support with your child’s learning at home, but we are willing to help with any child that does not understand or is struggling with homework so please let us know so we can help.
