'There is no lift to success. You have to take the stairs.'
Welcome to Class 5! We hope you had a fantastic summer break ,and are refreshed and ready to learn. We have some great trips and opportunities planned for you this term, starting with our trip to Rosemoor on Tuesday 11th September. This trip is our 'engage' event to kickstart our first topic of the term: 'Beast Creator'. This science-based topic links to many areas of the curriculum and we hope you enjoy all the activities and investigations planned!
P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays this term. P.E. kit should be in school at all times, and now we have introduced The Daily Mile you should either be wearing trainers or have them in school daily. We hope you support our effort to promote health and well-being by ensuring your children are appropriately dressed.
We have made the decision to make homework topic-based so the children will have weekly or fortnightly projects to complete linked their current topic. Children will not have maths and literacy homework, however, they will be expected to learn and practise spellings and times tables for weekly tests. These will be on a Thursday and Friday.
The Year 6s will be doing Bikeability in October and will need to ensure they have the appropriate bikes and safety gear (a letter will be sent home in the coming weeks).
It is a pleasure to welcome you all to Class 5 and I hope you settle in quickly. We have high standards in Class 5, but most of all, we expect 100% effort at all times. We know with hard work and determination you can all achieve your potential and be the best you possibly can be!
